What are you doing for fun?
One of my favorite fun and social activities is being a guest on podcasts. It is super ideal for my Autistic wiring, being expected and encouraged to deep dive on topics I am passionate about and welcome to do some monologuing, sign me up any day! And podcasters are always just such quirky and interesting people, it is my favorite social activity, one on one, they've signed up to hear all my stuff so I can't be too much (although yesterday I was on one where I think they definitely experienced me as too much, win some you lose some) but I get to do it all from the comfort of my own home and it's time capped, and yeah, I just love it!
And this past month has been a slew of them! If anyone is interested in being on podcasts, I've been using PodMatch, you can check out this video about it and use this affiliate link if you're interested in joining!
Anyhow, most recently, and not actually through podmatch, I had the absolute delight to chat with someone from our very own community, Nell from Too Human with Nurse Nell, we covered everything from the nervous system to ETs and are planning a second episode soon, it was such a blast and I'm so grateful for humans like Nell! This newsletter even got a shout out, so that was very fun! You can find her on IG and FB!
I also had the chance to talk with the incredible Dr. Takon in the UK who specializes in supporting Autistic kids and their families in a neuro-affirming way and she wrote the most beautiful article after our conversation, the podcast episode is yet to be released, but keep your eye out, especially if you're interested in supporting your kids or inner kid in a way that affirms their autonomy and takes care of your nervous system at the same time! She invited me to share at an upcoming conference and I'm really honored to be a part of it, connecting with people all over the world doing these beautiful and meaningful lives has really helped me during these recent demoralizing times on this planet!
I'm having so much fun meeting incredible people, I was on one yesterday (not yet released) about one song that makes a huge impact on you with a guy who happens to live in the same town in the UK where my great grandparents were from and another one, Leta's Tap Styles (also not yet released) about tap dance and Autism (two of my favorite things in this world!), and another one, That's Me! with the woman, Kory Andreas, who evaluated me for Autism (also not yet released).
I can't recommend being on podcasts enough! You don't have to be an expert, the majority of them just want to connect with real people telling stories about their experiences being on this planet. And if you just like listening and are interested in something un-spiritual and just for fun, here are some podcasts I'm enjoying listening to: Handsome, History Chicks and Woo Woo with Rachel Dratch.
